Chase runs text effort for U.S. Open tickets

Chase is letting consumers in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York try and win a pair of free tickets to the U.S. Open via a mobile campaign.

Consumers text the word "WIN" to 24273 from June 9 to Aug. 9. Chase will immediately text back entrants to notify them if they've won and direct them to the Web site at http://www.chase.com/tickets to redeem their prize.

"We wanted to make it simple and convenient for consumers to get free tickets to the U.S. Open," said Michael Fusco, spokeman for Chase, New York. "This promotion is a great way to highlight our mobile banking service, Chase Mobile.

"This past September, Chase was the first major U.S. bank to introduce mobile banking using cell phone text messaging to give customers account information on demand," he said.

Winners can redeem their tickets and non-winners can find out about other ways to qualify for tickets.

Chase Mobile lets customers text Chase for their account balance.

Consumers can visit any of Chase's 800 bank locations in the tri-state area to qualify for a pair of tickets to the early rounds of the U.S. Open. They do this by opening a Chase Free Checking account with direct deposit with a minimum $500 deposit or depositing $15,000 into an existing savings account or brokerage account.

Additional tickets to the Men's and Women's finals, semi-finals and quarterfinals are also available for larger deposits.

This text-to-win promotion is spearheading a broad marketing campaign that leverages parent company JPMorgan Chase Co.'s sponsorship of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.

The print, bus shelters, subway stations, commuter rail cars, taxi top and telephone kiosks ads begin this week with the message, "C U @ THE OPEN."

Chase also will provide information about the ticket giveaway on ATM screen messages, in brochures at bank branches and with statement inserts.

JPMorgan Chase is a corporate champion sponsor of the U.S. Open and the presenting sponsor of the U.S. Open Women's Singles Championship.

The bank is also promoting its mobile banking options through a $70 million campaign begun this year that includes television commercials pitching Chase Mobile and texting for balances and transactions.

"Chase Mobile makes it easy for customers to get their account information whenever and wherever they want using the same text messaging they use every day," Mr. Fusco said. "Within seconds of sending a text message to CHASE, customers receive the account information on their cell phone via secure technology.

"Chase Mobile is an excellent account management tool, providing another way for customers to better manage their financial lives," he said.
